The Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, on Tuesday, confirmed 117 new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria. NCDC in a tweet on its official Twitter page, disclosed that the confirmed cases were 59 in Lagos, 14 in Kano, 29 in FCT, 6 in Borno , 4 in Kastina, 3 in Ogun, 1 in Bauchi and 1 in Rivers. This now brings the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria to 782. NCDC wrote, ”As at 11:25pm 21th April there are 782confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria, 197 have been discharged with 25deaths ”There are 25 states with confirmed cases in Nigeria .”

Rivers State governor, Nyesom wike,has criticised the federal government for giving a N10 billion grant to Lagos State to fight the novel coronavirus while “abandoning” other states of the federation. The Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, has demanded that President Muhammadu Buhari government suspend all States’ deductions and restructure all debt service due to the coronavirus crisis. The body also urged the federal government to initiate fiscal measures to safeguard the liquidity of state governments.
